New Tricks!

R&R have been busy growing, changing, and of course learning new tricks!

Rhett has always been interested in holding 2 of everything in one hand....2 balls, 2 blocks, etc.  Recently, he started trying to crawl with 2 objects, one in each hand.  It is his favorite thing to do and he does it several times a day.  I have seen him crawling with 2 balls, 2 water bottles, 2 sippy cups, 2 bowls, and more.

Check out this awesome trick!

Going faster...

Rhys has been quite helpful with her new trick...

Now if only we could teach Rhys to change Rhett's diaper.....Ha!

A Big Day

I should have known something big would happen today.

Rhys woke up happy as could be, "singing" in her crib until I went to get her.

She had a gigantic breakfast....a whole waffle, an entire banana, and about half of my bowl of oatmeal.  (that is A LOT of food for this tiny little girl!)

During Rhett's physical therapy session, she was very playful, and seemed to be "showing off."  She was babbling non-stop, crawling, bending, squatting, reaching, and doing all the things that she knew would get her some attention.  She would take a couple of steps and then sit down and clap for herself.  Patti (Rhett's therapist) and I would laugh, and she would do it again.

While I was fixing dinner tonight, I heard the pitter patter of small feet on the tile.  I looked to find Rhys walking across the kitchen!  I think she probably took 7 or 8 steps each time before she would sit down.

Oh my, our lives will never be the same again.  I'm trying to remember this is a good thing!  Ha!

It was a big day indeed.

Thumbs Up!

Rhys showing off her new skill

After a couple weeks of "practice" we now have a couple of thumb suckers!  It is so funny to watch them try to find their thumbs.  Rhys has perfected the art of finding her thumb....she raises her fist to her forehead, then slides it down her face to her open mouth!  She does this every time.

Rhys sucking away LOUDLY

Let's not forget about the boy.  He took a couple more days, but also finally found his thumb!

Rhett found his thumb!

Rhett does not have a system like Rhys does to find his thumb.....he just puts his whole fist up to his mouth and starts sucking away until he finds something to suck on.  Sometimes it is his whole fist, sometimes 2 fingers, and when he gets lucky, he finds his thumb.

Rhett slobbering over his thumb and entire hand

Some parents discourage thumb sucking, but we actually like it.  Even though we have bought tons of pacifiers, they are usually lost when we need them.  Those thumbs are always easy to find though!  We also think it is really cute.  So "thumbs up" to R & R for their new skill!
