Fire Station Visit

Our play group headed over to the Geronimo Village Volunteer Fire Station last week.  The kids had a great time!

I love this picture of Rhett sitting in the truck.  He was so excited.

The firefighters were awesome with the kids.  One of them pulled out a big hose and let the kids take turns spraying the water.  Of course, this was their favorite part.

S couldn't keep from touching the water!

love G's smile!

Most of the kids loved it, but Rhys was definitely not into it.  As soon as we got there, she became clingy, whiny, and generally unhappy.  This picture says it all...

I really wanted a good picture of R&R sitting on the front of the fire truck, but this was all I got.

Here is our best group shot.

None of the kids are looking at the camera, but aren't they cute?

Kids and mommies!

As we left, the firefighters ran the siren for the kids to hear.  If you want to take your kids to visit a fire station, they do encourage visits.  We will definitely be going back again!

Quack Quack!

This fall the weather was so nice, so we decided to make a trip to Boerne to feed the ducks and visit with Uncle Mike.

This was the twins' first encounter with ducks, other than the numerous books we have with pictures of them.  Rhys was a little scared at first, but warmed up quickly.  Rhett was not scared at all, and would walk right up to the ducks to hand them some bread.  Rhett didn't understand the concept of tearing off a small piece of bread and tossing it towards the ducks.  He would just throw down the whole piece of bread right by his feet and then watch the ducks come to him.  After a lot of practice, he started to get the hang of it.

Rhys didn't want to throw her bread down.  Instead, she wanted to just hold it and walk around with it. She didn't understand why those ducks were all following her and watching her every move!  She just didn't want to let go of the bread!  I actually found a small piece of bread in her fist when we got home that afternoon!  She had held onto it the whole way home!

We had a lot of fun and were so glad that Uncle Mike (or "Mi" as the twins say) could join us.  The kids just love him and he is so sweet with them.  Looking forward to many more trips to Boerne to see the ducks!

Children's Museum

One weekend this fall we decided to try out the San Antonio Children's Museum.  It did not disappoint!

We started out in the toddler play area.

We played with bubbles...

glow sticks...

fun ball tables...

slides...

drove cars...
 loved on horses...
 made music...

and made faces at ourselves in the crazy mirrors.

Then we went to the HEB Market.  This was by far the twins' favorite part of the museum!  It was so neat....they had little shopping carts and aisles of food.  It was real HEB boxes and packages (with the food removed).  There was a produce section, a bakery section, seafood/meat section, canned foods, paper goods, snacks, etc.  Once you finish your shopping, there is a real checkout lane with a real scanner that beeps and displays the item on a little computer screen.  Super cute!  Rhys would have stayed in there all day if we would have let her.  That girl was serious about her grocery shopping!

 a long shopping list today...

After shopping, Rhys milked a cow.

Then Rhett played chess on the giant board.

R&R played in the kitchen.  I think Rhys "washed" her hands in the sink 25 times.  There was a pretend container of soap and she liked that, I think.

Rhys tried out the piano.

And on our way out, Rhett found the most amazing ball contraption he had ever seen.  We had to carry him out when it was time to go!

The twins had a blast, and we did too!  We were close to the Riverwalk, so we took a little stroll and had our snack on a bench by the river.  A little duck decided to join us and enjoyed all the crumbs that R&R dropped.

Can't wait to go back again!
