Breakfast with Jesus

Our church puts on a fabulous Breakfast with Santa event each December.  This year, Rhys and Rhett were so excited that their friends, Aiden and Adeline, (who are also twins!) were able to join us.

We started out with red and green pancakes topped with whip cream, gummy bears, marshmallows, sprinkles, and chocolate chips.  YUM!

Then we went in to see Santa.  Rhys has been real confused lately with Jesus, Santa, Christmas, birthdays, etc.  She was so nervous and the whole time we were in line she kept telling me "I no sit with Jesus, okay mommy?"  We tried to get them to sit with Santa Jesus but knew immediately it would not go well.  We opted for the family picture this year.  I honestly cannot believe that this picture looks like everyone was happy.  Believe me--they were not happy to see Santa.  Or Jesus.  And were only posing for one reason.  CANDY CANES.

We got the ultimate screaming Santa picture last year, and didn't feel the need to put them through that again.  For those of you who remember, here is the craziness of that day:

There were several activities for the kids to do that morning, including coloring, decorating their bag, and making a reindeer craft.  Rhett and Aiden held hands as we walked through the building.

Here are the kids with their super cute crafts!

We also loved that we got to see some of our favorite people that morning.

Thanksgiving 2013

We were very excited to be able to make a trip to Kinsgville to Bdad and Gram's house for Thanksgiving this year.

My in-laws have an amazing back yard.  It is one of my favorite places to sit and drink coffee.  The weather was gorgeous, and we spent a lot of time outside.  Rhett fell in love with the chickens and pretty much chased them around all weekend.

He was especially fond of the white chicken.  I'm pretty sure he poked this chicken in the eye several times.  These chickens got a good workout in with Rhett around!

Unfortunately, Tim's grandma fell on Thanksgiving day, and ended up needing surgery.  We were sad that we didn't get to share the day together, but we were thankful that she was okay.  We were able to visit her a couple days later in the hospital.  Rhys and Rhett sang to her, gave her kisses and hugs, and were very concerned about her "big ow-ie."

We went to a really nice park one morning and the kids had a great time running, sliding, and climbing.

There was a really cool lion slide, too!

We decided to try to take some pictures of all of us together while we were in town.  We forgot the tripod, and the timer remote, but we still got some nice pictures.

We headed back to the park with the lion slide for another round of fun!

Thanks Bdad and Gram for a wonderful weekend of fun!  We loved our time with you (and the chickens.)  Also enjoyed visiting with Mickey and Mindy and Uncle Ted.  So much to be thankful for and really thankful for our family this year.

P.S.  I know the Bennett family is disappointed that I did not take a single "food" picture for this post.  I can't believe it myself.  I'll do better, I promise.  But, for the record, the food was wonderful!

HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

We decided early in the year that the twins would dress as Duck Dynasty's Phil and Miss Kay for Halloween.  We got the idea after my mom bought Rhett a camouflage shirt.  We were joking about the idea for a Phil costume, but then decided to actually do it.  I think our little couple turned out adorable!

My mom sewed Rhys' apron, and surprisingly, she didn't mind wearing her little black wig.  Rhett wore the camo shirt, shorts, and a cool headband attached to his beard.  It was a little itchy (and hot!) but he kept it on most of the night.  He even wore his sunglasses in true Phil fashion!

Here is a picture of the twins right before we left to go Trick or Treating.  They weren't really sure what was going on, but were excited.

After a few houses, they really started getting into it.  They would stand at a door and say "trick or treat" over and over again until the door opened.  Then they would just stand there quietly.  We couldn't get them to understand they needed to say trick or treat again!

Rhys LOVED going door to door and filling her pink bag with candy.  Rhett got tired after a lot of walking and was ready to go home.  Rhys kept saying "little bit more?"  This surprised me because she is usually our shy and quiet one.  I guess her sweet tooth gave her a little more motivation!

Here is the crazy amount of candy we collected:

We let them pick one piece to eat Halloween night and they both chose fruit snacks.  LOL

And, because trick or treating is hard work, a corn dog to finish the night off.

Hope everyone had a HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY Halloween!  And, I'll close this post with some memories of the past couple of Halloween nights...

Pumpkin Patch 2013

Because Halloween day isn't crazy enough, we decided that we needed to visit a pumpkin patch this evening since A)most pumpkin patches close down on Halloween; B)it WAS Halloween day; C)this slacker mom hadn't gotten us to a pumpkin patch for pictures sooner; and D)sometimes we just do things the hard way.

As those of you with toddlers know, the key to a successful photo shoot is to keep your expectations low.   Tim did a great job, though, and the pictures he took today were far better than I imagined!

Surprising, we weren't the only people who waited until the last day possible to take pictures at the patch, and there were several families there.  As soon as we walked up, we saw a little girl dressed as Little Red Riding Hood and her dad had on a scary "Big Bad Wolf" mask.  Rhys started freaking out and wanted me to hold her.  At this point, I was doubtful that we would get a single picture of Rhys, so Tim started taking pictures of Rhett.  Here are a few of my favorites:

The Big Bad Wolf left but Rhys was still not interested in posing.  We tried everything to get her to relax, but this is what happened:

So then I pulled out the snack size Skittles I had strategically placed in my pocket.  The Skittles, along with constant confirmation that the wolf had left the pumpkin patch, and Rhys finally decided to join in on the fun!

The kids were so cute and Rhett kept "hugging" the big pumpkins.  This picture will always remind me of the hugging that was going on.

So, maybe I did bribe them with Skittles, but hey, it worked.

And because I know you are wondering...
